Kaufmann - Poolboi - Senso Sounds
Lisa Kaufmann, one of Berlin’s finest exponents, returns to Oliver Huntemann's underground music imprint Senso Sounds with the drop of her latest two-tracker in Poolboi. Flexing Kaufmann’s personal blend of minimalistic techno and psytrance, the titular cut is an absolute beast that proves why the DJ/producer is a force to be reckoned with.
Drifting with absolute swagger in the titular cut, Kaufmann deploys a hollow sonar stab that echoes over a sleek, armored groove, as it uncovers hazardous acidic sequences. Gaining momentum, she blazes across a myriad of cavernous effects and dubbed-out stabs that amp the tension before unleashing a corrosive lead that infects everything in its warpath. Contorting in unnatural and unholy ways, “Poolboi” keeps the engine hot throughout, letting go of the need for a grandiloquent breakdown in favor of the mischievous thrills that characterize the German production dynamo, making it a certified weapon of mass destruction.
Dark, fun, and infectiously seductive, Kaufmann’s “Poolboi” is guaranteed to leave a dent in those high-octane sets. Yes, it might not be Ibiza’s end-of-summer anthem for the 2024 season, but then again…who the fuck cares, right?
