Niels Van Gogh – Pulverturm (ANNA Rework) - Époque

A bonafide classic in its own right, Niels Van Gogh’s “Pulverturm” became the Augsburg-born artist’s calling card ever since it hit dancefloors worldwide back in 1998 via Kosmo Records. “Pulverturm” reached gold status in Belgium and South Africa, and was placed among the Top 20 of the French and Dutch Billboard Charts at the time, securing Niels Van Gogh’s enduring legacy in electronic dance music.

With several edits and remixes, including names like Tiësto and the late DJ Tomcraft, “Pulverturm” has inspired countless moments of ecstasy, and now it is time for Brazilian superstar ANNA to usher the piece into a brave new world.

Crafted for Charlotte de Witte’s new Époque imprint, which specializes in revitalizing gems from the Belgian golden era of Discothèque, ANNA’s reinterpretation of Niels Van Gogh’s timeless masterpiece is an uncompromising take that envisions “Pulverturm” as a towering techno leviathan that evokes the sophistication of the original piece.

Effervescently electric, ANNA’s rework is instantly recognizable as chopped vocal stabs cut through a powering low-end that glides across the late night with enviable grace before unleashing THAT everlasting plea asking for a hand. With “Pulvertrum” firing on high-octane jet fuel now, ANNA delivers an unexpected twist as she imprints her own melodic dash on the remix before presenting us with a festival-sized breakdown set to trigger a truly intoxicating chemical offset for the ages.

While there’s always a good reason why a good classic should never be tempered with (or several), some of them, like Niels Van Gogh’s “Pulverturm” just lend themselves to be reconstructed under the changing currents for new dancefloors to celebrate, and ANNA’s much-fanfared rework certainly hits the spot.
