Originally released through our ICONYC Noir sublabel, Zacharias Tiempo’s “Moon Racer” did the rounds back in June 2020 with its hybrid take on progressive house and melodic techno. Now, fast forward four years, and ICONYC is proud to unveil one of its most cherished gems to date with a cheeky and intrepid version of “Moon Racer” by revered French producer Maga.

Born out of Maga’s own initiative, in his rework of “Moon Racer”, an infectious old-school vocal line surges through restrained kicks and sparse percussion, rising in energy until it collides against a brick wall of a low-end. Now, with the groove locked and in full swing, Maga treads over restless hi-hats as he traverses through a glittering menagerie of dazzling effervescent aural effects before unleashing the sultry vocal again, allowing it to progress as it thrusts us deep into an avant-garde intergalactic disco-laced haze. Showcasing one of Maga’s finest moments as a producer/remixer, the Nice-born artist brings it all back down with some heavy-handed tribal patterns reminiscent of those legendary nights at New York’s fabled Twilo and its unique sound.

A gorgeous and utterly irresistible moment, Maga’s sublime rework of “Moon Racer” stands as proof of his enthralling creativity as he breathes a new lease of life into Zacharias Tiempo’s energetic original, flipping it on its head for a more primal late-night seance.
