Four Tet & Ellie Goulding link up for new single

After a four-year hiatus, acclaimed producer Four Tet (Kieran Hebden) and pop vocalist Ellie Goulding have joined forces once again, releasing their latest collaborative single, “In My Dreams”, on Three Six Zero Recordings. The track follows their 2020 collaboration “Baby”, which appeared on Four Tet’s album Sixteen Oceans.

Merging Four Tet's signature uplifting, intricate production with Goulding’s soft, ethereal vocals, “In My Dreams” marks a return to the pair's creative synergy. This new single continues their tradition of blending electronic and vocal elements to craft soundscapes that resonate both on the dancefloor and in more intimate settings.

Their most recent interaction prior to this release was in 2022, when Goulding invited Four Tet to remix her track “Easy Lover”. That remix garnered significant acclaim and even earned a GRAMMY nomination for Best Remixed Recording.

In discussing the making of “In My Dreams”, Hebden revealed that the collaboration began with voice notes sent by Goulding at the end of 2023. "Ellie texted me with a couple of voice notes for a song idea, words and melodies she was singing into her phone, and she asked me if I could use them to make something," he shared. Much of the song’s magic comes from the organic process, with Hebden using the original voice notes as the main vocal and incorporating new elements that juxtapose delicate, intimate tones with more aggressive soundscapes.
