Jeff Mills announces new studio album, 'The Eyewitness'
Jeff Mills is set to release his latest studio album titled The Eyewitness on July 5th via his own Axis Records. The new record delves into the themes of shock and trauma, exploring the profound impacts these experiences have on individuals.
This release follows his March album The Trip: Enter The Black Hole, which was a black hole-themed project accompanied by an immersive audiovisual show.
In discussing The Eyewitness, Mills elaborated on its central themes: “Trauma and the shock effect of it—the leftover residue of harsh reality so impactful that it shapes the way you imagine, envision, and calculate your position in regard to everything and everyone around you.” He describes how such experiences lead to the evolution of a "new type of psychological radius," where boundaries are reinforced, relationships become more distant, and the mental framework is left vulnerable and adrift, open to anything that seems like a worthy cause. Mills poignantly notes, “We all know someone that either has been or will be” affected by such trauma.
