Castle Trancelott - Indoctrinate (The Element MT & Patrick Prins Remix) - Maelstrom Records
Brace yourselves and prepare for impact, because Patrick Prins, the man of a million names is rising from the trenches with an absolute weapon of a collaboration as he links up with The Element to take on his own Castle Trancelott’s iconic “Indoctrinate”.
Released back in 1995 via Slate Records, “Indoctrinate” has seen a bit of a resurgence as of late due to its Maelstrom Records re-release in ‘22, and the subsequent drop of the “Patrick Prins Re-Flex” version earlier this year, coupled with the massive anticipation that this new remix has attracted.
Flexing a no-holes-barred attitude from the first bar, The Element & Patrick Prins conjure a menacing, yet irresistibly tight groove that treads giving zero fucks while eerie sonics and mangled vocals create a dark atmosphere that moves in strange ways as it casts its ghastly spell. Moving at a blistering pace, a throbbing baseline drives “Indoctrinate” across cascading hi-hats and acidic flourishes while cosmic debris latches onto the track’s own gravity center. With the cut contorting now in unpronounceable shapes, the production duo put all of their creative prowess on display, delivering one gargantuan turn after the other, unleashing a barrage of meandering synths and tantalizing arrangements for an all-out blitz on the senses.
Somewhere between the nostalgia of our halcyon days and the hope of a future yet unwritten, The Element & Patrick Prins’ remix of Castle Trancelott’s “Indoctrinate” is a gorgeous assault on the dancefloors that bridges past and present in what might just be one of the best tracks of 2024.
