Back on the powerhouse that is Glasgow Underground, London-based artist Kevin McKay links up with Montreal’s Ludo Lacoste to inject a sense of exclusivity into his and NYLA’s rework of Tinashe's noughties classic "2 On" with the dubbed-out “Extended VIP” mix.

Flexing over a muscular frame, McKay & Lacoste dive into the deep end with some luxurious chord stabs that anchor the piece before unleashing a plush, low-end pulse that drives the piece forward with airs of sheer sophistication. With a most narcotic foundation in place, the duo pulls back the shades to uncover NYLA’s sultry, sucrose-laced vocals, and it is house music through and through. Irresistible, “2 On” glistens under the tempered sun as water drips sensually for a captivating moment that sears its mark on us as we lower our battle cries in favor of that soulful connection. Approaching its halfway mark, “2 On” brings the gears down, allowing for reverb-drenched piano chords to echo as they interlock with the Brazilian chanteuse’s vocals in a fascinating feat that makes time stand still for a brief moment before resuming its elegant strut into the golden hour.

Uncomplicated, carefree, and yet incredibly appealing, Kevin McKay & Ludo Lacoste’s Extended VIP mix of “2 On” invites us to get down in style, while reminding us that, sometimes, magic resides in the apparent simplicity of things.
