ADE to kick off 2024 edition with 4 Special events

The Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) is set to open its 2024 edition with a series of unique one-off concerts on October 16th, marking the beginning of the five-day festival. This year’s opening will feature four immersive performances in some of the city’s most stunning venues, blending music, art, and technology.

One of the highlights is a special concert at the Van Gogh Museum, where Dutch singer-songwriter Eefje de Visser will deliver an intimate, stripped-down performance accompanied by just a piano, guitar, and vocalists. Meanwhile, at the Door Open Space warehouse, Cello Octet Amsterdam will collaborate with audiovisual artist Nick Verstand, whose custom-made robotic arms will create a striking light show as the orchestra plays.

Bimhuis, Amsterdam's iconic jazz venue, will host an intriguing fusion of genres as free jazz singer Greetje Bijma joins forces with electronic artist Oceanic, followed by a live set from British producer LUXE, who will merge electronic and classical elements. Finally, the renowned Metropole Orkest will honor hip-hop legend J Dilla with a performance that reimagines his music in jazz and pop styles, featuring multi-instrumentalist Miguel Atwood-Ferguson.

As ADE continues to grow, attracting visitors from 146 countries, this year’s lineup includes major acts like Honey Dijon, Four Tet, Peggy Gou, and Jeff Mills, among many others. Beyond the music, attendees can engage in diverse activities such as techno yoga, photography exhibitions, and panel talks.
