AKAI INTRODUCES MPC STEM SEPARATION

Akai has announced a powerful update to its MPC lineup with the introduction of MPC Stems, a feature that revolutionizes the way users interact with their samplers. This innovative addition allows producers to import fully mixed tracks and effortlessly separate them into their individual elements.

Initially teased in January, MPC Stems is currently available exclusively through the MPC desktop software, with standalone hardware support slated for the future. Compatible devices include the Live series, MPC One, MPC X, MPC Key 61, MPC Key 37, and MPC Studio MK2, among others.

Unlike traditional stem separation methods, which often leave behind artifacts due to algorithmic limitations, Akai's technology, powered by zPlane, promises superior sound quality and accuracy.

Andy Mac, Head of MPC Artist Relations, expressed enthusiasm about the launch, stating, "MPC Stems represents a monumental leap forward in sampling technology for producer communities worldwide. With this innovation, we're ushering in an era of unparalleled creative freedom for producers, marking a significant milestone in music production."

The demand for stem separation has been on the rise in recent years, initially emerging in iZotope plugins before finding its way into DJ software. Akai's MPC Stems now brings this functionality directly to the sampling realm, offering users access to isolated drums, vocals, basslines, and musical elements without the need for multi-tracks or acapellas.

MPC Stems is available as an add-on for the MPC desktop software, priced at $9.99, and can be purchased from the MPC store.
