JEFF MILLS TO PRESENT A "COSMIC OPERA"

Jeff Mills has announced an ambitious new project that combines music, visuals, and performance art in what he describes as a "cosmic opera." Titled The Trip – Enter The Black Hole, the project is set to debut at Zero Tokyo on April 1st, 2024, in collaboration with the Japanese production group, Cosmic Lab.

This multidisciplinary endeavor will feature the sounds of Mills' upcoming album, also titled The Trip – Enter The Black Hole, accompanied by a visually stunning immersive experience. The A/V show will incorporate video, lighting, costume design, and contemporary dance to explore the theoretical scenarios of passing through a black hole.

The Trip – Enter The Black Hole album, consisting of 12 tracks, is a collaborative effort between Mills and Japanese New Wave vocalist Jun Togawa, with additional musical contributions from synth player Shinichi Yamaguchi and guitarist Kazuhide Yamaji. The digital release is scheduled for March 20th, followed by vinyl and CD editions in mid-May.

The premiere of the A/V show will feature two performances at Zero Tokyo, each offering a unique experience. Doors open at 5:30 pm for the first show, running from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm, and at 9:00 pm for the second show, which concludes at 11:15 pm. Tickets are available for purchase on the event's website.

This announcement follows Mills' previous innovative projects, including his 2017 EP Lost In Space, which debuted with a live performance accompanied by the Orchestre du Capitole in Toulouse, France. Mills has also recently composed an electronic music-based score for Fritz Lang's iconic 1927 film Metropolis.
