MELT Festival confirms 2024 edition will be its last
After 27 years of vibrant music and unforgettable moments, Germany’s MELT Festival will hold its final event this summer.
Announcing the news on May 30th, the festival’s director, Florian Czok, attributed the decision to “changes in the festival landscape.” Czok elaborated, saying, “Despite our commitment and efforts in recent years, we recognize that the original MELT no longer fits into the German festival market. [MELT] cannot withstand the developments of recent years without radically altering the festival concept.”
The farewell edition of MELT Festival is set to take place from July 13 to 15 at the iconic Ferropolis City of Iron, located between Berlin and Leipzig. This venue has been the festival's home since 1999, hosting countless memorable performances.
Reflecting on MELT's journey, an Instagram post from the festival stated, “If someone had told us in 1997, our very first year, that the MELT Festival would still exist in 2024, we would probably have called that person crazy. In 1999 we found our home in Ferropolis and danced, celebrated and experienced unforgettable moments there for 25 years.”
This final edition promises some “final surprises,” yet to be disclosed, alongside a lineup featuring over 150 artists including Ahadadream, Helena Hauff, Honey Dijon, VTSS, Sugababes, James Blake, Skepta, and Romy.
MELT Festival has always aimed to create unique experiences, offering a space where attendees could immerse themselves in music and the night. The festival team expressed gratitude to their supporters, saying, “Thanks to you, this vision became reality.”
