Depeche Mode announce new concert documentary, ‘M‘

Depeche Mode have announced M, a new full-length concert documentary chronicling their trio of sold-out performances at Mexico City’s Foro Sol in March 2023. Helmed by I’m No Longer Here director Fernando Frias, M is slated for theatrical release in spring 2025 via Sony Pictures Entertainment.

The film, produced by Live Nation and WME, goes beyond a typical tour documentary, blending live footage, behind-the-scenes moments, and intimate fan interactions to explore the cultural resonance of the Memento Mori album. According to a statement, M "draws on the parallels between the themes of the record and Mexico’s deep-rooted connection to mortality, remembrance, and spiritual duality."

The Mexico City shows were a high point in Depeche Mode’s global Memento Mori World Tour, and marked their first return to the capital since 2017. Dave Gahan and Martin Gore spoke of the city’s special place in the band’s legacy, citing the unmatched energy of local crowds and the historical significance of their relationship with Mexican fans.

M also represents a new chapter for the group, following the passing of longtime bandmate Andy Fletcher in 2022 and the release of Memento Mori, their first album as a duo.

Further details, including the documentary’s exact release date and international screening plans, will be announced in the coming months.
