‘Tron: Ares’ shares trailer scored by Nine Inch Nails

Disney has released the first official trailer for Tron: Ares, offering a first look at the long-awaited third installment in the Tron franchise—scored by Nine Inch Nails’ Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross.

Set for theatrical release on October 10, 2025, the film is directed by Joachim Rønning (Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, Kon-Tiki) and stars Jared Leto, Greta Lee, Evan Peters, and Jeff Bridges, who reprises his role from earlier Tron entries.

The soundtrack marks the first time Reznor and Ross have scored a film under the Nine Inch Nails name. The pair have built a formidable reputation in the world of film scoring over the past 15 years, beginning with their Academy Award-winning score for The Social Network (2010). Other major works include The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Gone Girl, Soul (for which they won a second Oscar, alongside Jon Batiste), Mank, and Bones and All.

With Tron: Ares, they succeed Daft Punk, whose 2010 Tron: Legacy soundtrack has since become one of the most celebrated electronic film scores of the past two decades. The trailer teases a colder, more analog-inspired aesthetic for the digital world of Tron, backed by ominous synths and industrial overtones—a clear fingerprint of Reznor and Ross’s sonic worldbuilding.

The trailer drop coincides with another major announcement: Nine Inch Nails will return to the stage this summer for their first headlining tour in three years. The run begins June 15, 2025, and includes support from Boys Noize. Tickets are available now.

Tron: Ares is due in cinemas worldwide this October. Watch the full trailer below.
