Burial takes on L.B. Dub Corp's “Only The Good Times”
L.B. Dub Corp, the moniker of electronic music veteran Luke Slater, has unveiled a captivating remix of his latest track “Only The Good Times,” courtesy of none other than elusive UK producer Burial.
Released via Dekmantel, this exclusive double tracker vinyl features both the original cut, spanning four minutes, and an extended 10-minute remix from Burial himself. The remix offers a unique reinterpretation of the original, adding Burial's signature atmospheric soundscapes and intricate production touches.
“Only The Good Times” serves as a precursor to L.B. Dub Corp's forthcoming album, Saturn to Home, set to debut on Dekmantel later this month. The album, comprising eight tracks, boasts collaborations with esteemed artists such as Paul St. Hilaire, Robert Owens, Kittin, and Baal & Mortimer.
The inspiration behind “Only The Good Times” stems from the enigmatic Eindhoven street character Arnol Kox, a local legend in the Dutch city. Slater recorded Arnol preaching the track's title, translating from Dutch, thereby infusing the song with a profound sense of authenticity and emotion.
Following Arnol Kox's passing in 2020, Slater decided to dedicate the track to his memory, offering a heartfelt tribute to the late legend. Slater expresses gratitude to Arnol, Burial, and all those who have connected with the music, acknowledging the deep emotional resonance of the track.
“For me “Only The Good Times” is a deeply emotional track. It’s one of those tracks that ended up entwined in love and somehow life-affirming,” says Luke Slater. “My immediate thought was to get Burial to remix it, not only because he is one of the most entrancing producers ever, but also because of our heartfelt connection and to get him away from his Playstation for ten seconds.”
“Only The Good Times” marks Slater's first solo release under his L.B. Dub Corp alias in five years, setting the stage for the highly anticipated arrival of Saturn to Home on May 24th.
